JONESVILLE — Memorial services for Philip Jackson “Jackie” Collins, Jr., 69, of Alexandria, La., who died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, in Alexandria, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, at First United Methodist Church in Jonesville.
Philip Jackson “Jackie” Collins Jr. was born Sept. 2, 1938, in Monterey, the son of the Rev. Philip Jackson Collins Sr. and Mrs. Nila Forman Collins. He was a longtime resident of Jonesville. Jackie served in the U.S. Naval Reserve and was a graduate of Louisiana State University. Jackie was the former owner of Catahoula Insurance Agency with offices in Jonesville, Ferriday and Vidalia. He served on the town council of Jonesville, the board ofdirectors of Catahoula Parish Hospital, the board of directors of Louisiana Energy and Power Authority, Louisiana State Board of Independent Insurance Agents and was chosen as Jaycee Man of the Year in 1972. Jackie was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Natchez.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Joann Lanier Collins; daughter, Carol Ann Collins Riley and husband, Jimmy, both of Natchez; son, Richard David Collins and wife, Connie, both of Birmingham, Ala.; stepdaughter, Jacqueline Richart and husband, Dr. C.M. Richart, both of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Sandra Kay Collins of Pineville, La. and Kathleen Collins Venable and husband, Roy, both of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law, Susan Lanier Orr; mother-in-law, Mrs. Lillie Muriel Lanier of Jonesville; his beloved grandchildren, Jarred and Raney Lauren Collins, Annalyce Noel Riley and Alexandra and James Richart; four nieces and two nephews; an aunt; and several close cousins and many lifelong friends.
Jackie’s enthusiastic and joyful personality will be missed and the memory of his twinkling blue eyes and ever present smile will continue to warm the hearts of all who knew him. The family would like to thank the staff of Kingsley Place for their loving care and Oasis Hospice for their kind support and assistance.
