Pleasant Acre Day School wowed by donations
NATCHEZ — The community never ceases to amaze the folks at Pleasant Acre Day School.
For the second time in as many months, Director Mary Ann Foggo-Eidt has shared a need through a newspaper article and gotten immediate, overwhelming response, she said.
The school’s heating and cooling unit died Monday, and a new, $4,000 unit, was installed.
Without extra money in the non-profit’s budget, Eidt was worried.
But first thing Tuesday things started working out, she said.
First, the company that installed the unit — Premo Stallone — called saying they would drop the price to simply cover their costs. The bill was then $2,921.
Soon, two men from the community walked in with checks, followed by two women. Eidt estimated that the community members brought $500.
Then, the president of United Mississippi Bank called, asked how much money the school needed to pay for the unit and said a check was on the way.
“I’m never surprised, but I’m always overwhelmed,” Eidt said. “For the community to respect our program and support what we’ve been doing for 50 years feels great.
“We are nice and warm and free of debt.”
