Plenty of good news in Miss-Lou last week

The first week of the New Year in the Miss-Lou was filled will news good news in every corner of the region.

Wilkinson County Christian senior Cane Lanehart has won several awards throughout his high school career. To his titles of student body president and 2019 Homecoming King, Lanehart can add daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen. Congratulations to Lanehart for his latest achievement and for providing an outstanding example for all students.

On Saturday, Barbara Rodriguez joined an elite group of horsemen and women when she joined the Mississippi Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame. Rodriguez joins her father Roland “Pee Wee” Stacy, who was the first person to be inducted into the group’s Hall of Fame, her mother Ruth Stacy and close friend Doris Ballew, who were also inducted. Given Rodriguez’s contributions of time, effort and undying support, Saturday’s honor is well-deserved.

Christ Episcopal Church in Church Hill plans to commemorate its bicentennial on Feb. 22 and the church invites the community to come celebrate. The church is the oldest Episcopal congregation in Mississippi. Joining the celebration will be Bishop of the Mississippi Diocese the Right Rev. Brian Seage. Afterward, a reception will be hosted at Church Hill Variety, a new restaurant across the street from the church.

If Charlette Watson and her family are not lifetime members of the Mickey Mouse Club, they should be. Nearly every corner of Watson’s house is populated by memorabilia celebrating the famous mouse and his closest pals. Views of the Watson’s home is sure to bring out the child in all of us — a reminder of what a little Disney magic can do to brighten the day.
