Saturday update: Two new COVID-19 cases in Adams County, one in long-term care facility

NATCHEZ — The Mississippi State Department of Health reported two new COVID-19 cases in Adams County on Saturday morning, including one at a long-term care facility in the county.

MSDH states that long-term care facilities, like nursing homes, are considered high-risk locations because their residents are older or are in poor health. Even one case of COVID-19 in these facilities among residents or employees is considered an outbreak.

Adams County now has a total of 16 cases of COVID-19 that have been confirmed by MSDH.

MSDH reported the state’s total number of COVID-19 cases rose by 97 confirmed cases to a total of 1,455 cases on Saturday.

MSDH also reported six additional deaths for a total of 35 people in the state with COVID-19 related deaths.

One of the new deaths was reported from Wilkinson County, which now has a total of three deaths of since the outbreak. Wilkinson County also has three new confirmed cases of the virus, bringing their total to 25 confirmed cases.
